An eight-day High Atlas journey with progressive acclimatization and an ascent of Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak.

Full description

It’s not by chance that the Amazigh call Toubkal “the mountain of mountains.” At 4,167m, it’s the highest peak in North Africa — and summiting it is a journey through the heart of Amazigh country. A progressive itinerary designed for gentle acclimatization.

Your experience step by step

1

Arrival in Marrakech

Time: Day 1

Welcome to Morocco. Transfer to your hotel in the Guéliz district. Depending on your arrival time, explore the medina, its souks, and Jemaa el-Fna.

2

Into the Toubkal Massif

Time: Day 2

Drive into the High Atlas. Beyond Asni, meet your muleteer-cook and begin a gentle ascent through walnut groves and Amazigh villages. The trail winds past watermills and terraced fields to your gîte in Aït Aïssa.

3

Azaden Valley & Waterfalls

Time: Day 3

Follow the river upstream through the Azaden Valley — terraced gardens, ancient junipers and walnuts, and houses in shades of earth and rose. The trail climbs to Ighouliden Falls before reaching the refuge.

4

To Toubkal Base Camp

Time: Day 4

Climb toward the Mouflons refuge, base camp for the summit. The landscape becomes lunar — scree and rock, silence and sky. Your refuge perches at 3,207m.

5

Toubkal Summit

Time: Day 5

Pre-dawn departure for the summit of North Africa. Climb through scree and boulders to the summit ridge. At 4,167m, see the Sahara to the south, the Atlantic to the west, and the Atlas in every direction.

6

Descent to Imlil

Time: Day 6

Descend through changing landscapes, passing the sacred site of Sidi Chamharouch. Your gîte in Imlil offers hot showers, cold drinks, and a place to celebrate the summit.

7

Return to Marrakech

Time: Day 7

Enjoy a final mountain breakfast with views of Toubkal, then transfer to Marrakech. The afternoon is free to explore the city or relax.

8

Departure

Time: Day 8

Final morning in Marrakech, then transfer to the airport depending on your flight time.
